Paperlink Communication

01 Why did you choose a Paper Cup and post as an ingredient? Explain the ingredient.

Paper cups are severely discarded in cafes and offices. However, they are not recycled because of the plastic called polyethylene, which is attached to the inside. Many people think that paper cups are recycled, but the recycling rate is only 1 percent. Also, mail is classified as general waste and not recycled because of the protection of information. Therefore, paper cups and mail are very harmful to the environment as they  are non-recyclable waste paper.

02 What is the design intention?

Paper cups and mail are mainly waste paper that occurs a lot in the office. As it occurs a lot in the office, we tried to select products that can be used in the office. Partitions were selected by reflecting the keywords 'cleanliness, lightness' in paper cups and the keywords 'anonymity, information protection' in the mail, and because traditional techniques were borrowed, a folding screen-type partition was produced with a motif from 'byeongpung'.

03 What are the craft techniques used? Explain the craft technique you have chosen.

Jido Craft refers to the method of applying paper several times to make a thick paper to make an object, or to make a skeleton from bamboo and then applying paper inside and outside it. In the past, the low- ncome class made a wooden  ramework from cheap wood and finished the surface with colored paper, while the wealthy made a skeleton from good-grained wood and exposed the skeleton to use it as a luxurious object.

04 Describe the Production Process of the Work.

Soak a paper cup in water to separate paper from polyethylene. Then, put the mail in a paper cup and tear it by hand. Pour paper porridge into a cloth to separate water and paper. Cover it with a cloth and press it with a sponge to drain it. Dry it for 12 hours to make new paper from paper cups and mail.
